There are a number of great reasons why you might be visiting Toronto. Hosting 2.9 million people, this amazing city is a sprawling metropolis with plenty to do, as well as a number of astonishing green spaces. It’s also known as one of the most diverse cities in the world with over 200 ethnic groups and 140 languages spoken. It’s no wonder then that one of the biggest attractions about Toronto is its food – there are a ton of restaurants to choose from and plenty of diverse options as well that allow you to experience cultures from around the world.

Here are some restaurants you should definitely check out if you’re in the area.

Rasa is the flagship restaurant of The Food Dudes – a popular catering company that has been operating in this city since 2007. It opened in 2014 in Harbord Village of downtown Toronto and sports a diverse menu inspired by a number of different cultures. The restaurant owners change the menu up every few months to ensure that it stays fresh and exciting for guests.

The founders aimed to create a relaxing atmosphere where guests could enjoy amazing food like steak tartare, fried chicken confit, octopus bravas, and more. For a more refined dining experience, be sure to check out Sara, their sister location which opened last year in 2018.

Located on Niagara Street, this unique establishment has been open since 2012 when husband-and-wife chefs Tobey Nemeth and Michael Caballo came to Toronto to open a restaurant because they felt like Toronto was an exciting dining scene. The two are committed to frequently changing their menu to reflect what’s in season, so there isn’t even a printed menu that you could take a look at.

The cozy restaurant offers five or seven course meals that are typically full of seafood, vegetables, and Michael’s favourite: mushrooms. They also specialize in offering a fine selection of cheeses and wines, providing guests with the ultimate comfort-inspired culinary experience.

A Canoe has been a Torontonian staple for over twenty years, offering amazing eats as well as a great view of the city from the 54th floor of the TD Bank Tower in downtown Toronto. Chefs John Horne and Ron McKinlay are focused on creating elaborately presented contemporary Canadian cuisine with seasonal ingredients. Their restaurant offers seasonal tasting menus and à la carte dishes, as well as a wine list that features both Canadian and international winemakers.

You can expect dishes like northern woods mushroom soup, Newfoundland scallop, Ontario squab, and Atlantic salmon.
