Born in New York, Lana is the daughter of Rob Grant, a millionaire, and investor, who has backed her career. She enjoyed luxury from a young age. Del Rey enrolled in metaphysics at Fordham University in the Bronx after high school because she wanted to find a connection between faith and science but didn’t finish it because she wasn’t good at math. From a young age, she began writing lyrics and songs that she performed at New York nightclubs.

In 2010, she released her first studio album, “Lana Del Rey”, for the independent record label. The album was withdrawn from sale for a short period, and she did not speak publicly about it.

In 2012, Lana Del Rey admitted in an interview with GQ that she was dealing with alcohol addiction, at the age of 14 and that she was sent to boarding school by her parents to get sober.

“I was a big drinker at the time. I would drink every day. I would drink alone. I thought the whole concept was so fucking cool. A great deal of what I wrote on ‘Born To Die’ is about these wilderness years”, Lana said to GQ.
She added: “My parents were worried, I was worried. I knew it was a problem when I liked it more than I liked doing anything else. I was like, ‘I’m fu**ed. I am totally fu**ed’.”

She reached the climax of her popularity in 2012, with the release of the album “Born to die”. Album “Lust for Life” came out in 2017, but it didn’t go well with the audience. She then withdrew from the public for a while, leaving the audience waiting for Lana’s new hit for almost two years.

The hit singer of Blue Jeans believes that fans can relate to the realistic and dark lyrics of her songs, in which there is no compromise, which is why they also respect her.

“I think people have the feeling that they know me by listening to lyrics because they feel that I am writing about something that has gone wrong and how I was”, Lana reveals to KROQ radio station.

Lana talked to KROQ about her fans: “When it comes to me, people love the fact that I believe in myself and what I do, that I never compromise in the lyrics or in reality. I would never sing anything to rhyme in the spirit of sweet pop songs. I really care about musically documenting my life. That’s why I consider people who love me to be real artists.”

The pop star released her sixth studio album, “Norman Fucking Rockwell!” in August 2019. The album cover art features Del Rey and Jack Nicholson’s grandson Duke Nicholson posing on a sailboat.

The Guardian described this album as “an alternately beguiling and frustrating experience”, and that despite Del Rey’s evident talent, “it’s hard not to wish that she would broaden her perspective, adopt a different persona, shake things up a little.”
