Rescued Animals got a Generous Food Donation the Same Day the Shelter Asks for Help

by Tracy Finke

The Ashtabula County Animal Protective League thanked the generous donors who supplied them with dry dog food, the same day after asking people for help in pet food.

Workers from the Ashtabula County APL posted on Facebook pet food appeal on Saturday. “Good Afternoon! We are in desperate need of dry dog food. We have used the very last of what we have! We prefer Purina Dog Chow but as always will take any other brands. We are here until 6 today and 1-5 tomorrow. We appreciate your help!”

Donors supplied the shelter with 30 bags of dog food. “What an overwhelming outpour of love for the animals today. We knew we could count on all of you and thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We still need to refill our room, so anyone that still wants to help we are open tomorrow from 1-5!!”, the Ashtabula County APL wrote on Facebook.

The shelter shared that this was not the only donation this weekend. They received over-the-phone monetary donations from many people who wanted to assist in keeping the food supply stocked for the next few weeks.

“We are so humbled by our community and beyond. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts and the animals from their full tummies”, Ashtabula County APL said gratefully.

Even with all these generous donations, the shelter still needs help in pet food.
