Ari Behn, the ex-husband of a Norwegian princess and the man who accused actor Kevin Spacey of se*ual harassment, committed suicide, his spokesman said. He died at the age of 47 on Christmas day.
Behn, who is the author of several novels and plays, got married in 2002 with the Norwegian princess Marta Louise. They have three daughters – 16-year-old Maud, 14-year-old Leah, and 11-year-old Emma. The couple separated in 2016 and then divorced officially.
The Norwegian king and queen said in a statement that Behn had been “an important part of our family for many years and we carry warm and good memories of him with us”.
At the time of the wedding, Behn, who was born in Denmark, was seen as the controversial partner of the princess, who is the only daughter and eldest child of King Harald and Queen Sonja.
Ben was introduced to the princess by his mother, who was Martha Louise’s physical therapist.
Ari Behn will also be remembered for a statement from the end of 2017, in an interview with Norwegian radio station P4, that he sat down with Kevin Spacey and that they talked pleasantly with each other when Spacey told him after five minutes: “Hey, let’s go out and have a cigarette”. Then, as Ari said, Spacey allegedly put his hand under the table and “grabbed him”.
Behn then told Spacey “maybe later” and thus got out of the awkward situation, adding that he was younger at the time and that he was not gray, and apparently Spacey liked him.
