Florida businessman, who is an owner of a pool installation company in Gulf Breeze, decided to help his neighbors with their water and gas bills. After receiving his utility bill, and seeing that the due date on it is 26th December, Michael Esmond (73) got an idea to take a little bit of stress out of the season for his neighbors.
He then contacted the city of Gulf Breeze, and asked if he could help its residents who can’t afford to pay their bills before the due date.
He explained that his own experience inspired him to do that. „Back in the ’80s I actually lived that. I experienced a time where I had trouble paying bills. And we actually had the gas disconnected. It happened to be one of the coldest winters in history,“ this generous man told Pensacola local station WEAR TV.
Joanne Oliver, Gulf Breeze’s utility billing supervisor, told the station how this gesture made her cry.
Michael Esmond paid $4,600 to help 36 families. The city decided to send those families special Christmas cars that read: “It is our honor and privilege to inform you that your past due utility bill has been paid by Gulf Breeze Pools & Spas.
You can rest earlier this holiday season knowing you have one less bill to pay. On behalf of Gulf Breeze Pools & Spas we here at the City of Gulf Breeze would like to wish you and your family a happy holiday season.”
