Holiday seasons aren’t exception when it comes to royals maintaining decades-long traditions, such as a game of charades, opening presents and a Boxing Day pheasant shoot.
Since Meghan Markle is now a Duchess, this year, her first holiday season as a royal, will be filled with those traditions and she has been given a list of rules to follow during the holidays to avoid ruffling any feathers while celebrating in the presence of the Queen.
The supposed royal aide told Express: “The duchess has to resist that American urge to win at everything. The whole family likes to play charades on Christmas night and she must never beat the Queen, who is a fine actress herself.”
Besides charades, The Queen likes to impersonate heads of state, actors, and VIPs she’s met throughout her life. Considering that Markle is a former actress, she has been instructed not to upstage the Queen at any point, and not to remind the family of her acting skills.
An aide added: “[The royals] don’t like show-offs, especially newcomers who show off.”
Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland will be spending Christmas with the royal family, and Prince Harry has taken a duty to guide her and Markle through the traditional protocol.
The aide also mentioned: “The jokes and presents are very cheesy. The life is grand, the protocol is unbending and it terrifies the life out of incomers.”
But it seems that Markle doesn’t have any problems with royal life and fits well. Christmas will probably be spent in the most peaceful atmosphere. We hope that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will have wonderful time.
Also, we can’t wait for the charades to see if Markle and the Queen are on the same team.
